A Sanctuary in St Peters
A stunning outdoor sanctuary and showstopping entertainer’s delight.
The brief
To completely update the outdoor living space with a stylish makeover, providing a year-round entertaining area and seamless transitions between spaces. Elite Built both designed and built this entire renovation creating more usable outdoor space and seamlessly blending the old with the new.
The solution
With this project, we were excited to turn our tools to a tired courtyard needing a modern upgrade. This stunning outdoor transformation includes stylish composite decking with luxurious touches such as striking feature skylights, a delightful Howqua® Freeform Stone fireplace, built-in seating, plantation shutters and an undercover BBQ and dining deck.
We started by removing the existing fake grass and cooking area, to make way for our extension transformation. Using Modwood decking, our new deck matched the height and look of existing decking, to create more usable entertaining space that is both stylish and safe.
Next, we built a new pergola to enclose two existing spaces and used matching Glosswood timber ceiling lining as both a striking design feature, but also to blend the old and new spaces, so they look like they’d always been that way. And the addition of Velux skylights allows natural light to flow into the courtyard.
To finish the extensive backyard makeover, we built a new outdoor cooking deck and covered it with an all-weather pergola for year-round use. We painted all the new installations to match the existing built environment, and touched up older areas that needed a little attention.
“Our clients are thrilled with their new outdoor spaces, which seamlessly connect to the existing home. They’re now enjoying year-round entertaining in their peaceful garden sanctuary.”

“Now I have a proper outdoor area where I can entertain in style without having to worry about the weather or about people tripping over old, uneven surfaces. It’s really blended the outside and inside and given my courtyard a new lease on life.”
